A horse and rider were struck by a car in Bentworth, near Alton, late on the afternoon of Friday 25 September 2026. The collision happened on Well Lane, close to where it meets Station Road, at around 5.50pm. Both horse and rider came away with minor injuries.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have since asked the public for help. A force spokesman said the driver of the Aston Martin involved has been identified and spoken to, but officers still want to hear from witnesses, and especially from anyone who has dash cam footage from that stretch of road.
If you were hacking, driving or walking in that area on that Friday evening, you may hold something useful without realising it. Footage, even a few seconds of it, is what the police have singled out. The number to call is 101, and the reference is 44260470442.
The wider point for anyone who hacks on roads: footage only helps if it still exists. Many cameras overwrite old files once the card is full. If you ride that route regularly, it is worth checking what is still saved from late September before it disappears.
